Darren Woolway ARPS, AMPA, Ba(Hons)
Founder & Lead Instructor | Commercial & Automotive Photographer
Based just south of London on the Isle of Sheppey, Darren Woolway is a passionate commercial photographer specialising in automotive, car, and still life product photography. With over two decades of experience, Darren has built a reputation for his ability to “paint with light,” transforming beautiful motoring icons into stunning images that tell a story.
Darren’s journey began unexpectedly while studying Garden Design, when a fellow student’s DSLR photos inspired him to explore photography. From his early days with a Canon 350D, he quickly mastered the craft, combining technical expertise with a creative vision that sets his work apart. Darren’s formal education includes a First Class Honours degree in Digital Photography from Ravensbourne College, London.
Over the years, Darren has photographed for numerous prestigious automotive magazines, including Porsche 911, Classic Ford Magazine, and Performance Vauxhall Magazine. He has also worked extensively in advertising, helping brands showcase their vehicles in compelling ways.
More recently, Darren expanded his skills into videography and media management as Head of Media for Gigglepin Racing, covering international motorsport events from Europe to Los Angeles.
When not behind the camera, Darren is an avid diver, fisherman, and traveller, always seeking new inspiration in nature and culture to fuel his creativity. He is deeply committed to collaboration and mentorship within the photography community, regularly giving talks, judging competitions, and supporting aspiring photographers.
Darren’s approach to teaching is hands-on, practical, and encouraging—rooted in the belief that great photography is not just about equipment, but about vision, light, and storytelling. He looks forward to sharing his passion with you, helping you create images that inspire and captivate.
