Biography

James Musselwhite is an award-winning portrait and commercial photographer based in Portsmouth, UK, renowned for his dynamic studio and location work. With a professional career beginning in 2013 after years honing his craft on the high-street, James now runs Musselwhite Photography where he creates striking, stylised visuals for families, fashion, performance, headshots and personal branding.

Among his most distinctive projects is Portrait of a Wrestler, a long-running series that captures international pro-wrestling talent in character-driven, high-impact imagery. This work caught the attention of Canon and earned James the title of International Photographer of the Year in 2021.

James is passionate about sharing his knowledge and lighting techniques. As a tutor he brings a candid, no-nonsense approach to teaching—from creative concept through to image capture and post-production—empowering photographers of all levels to “make the impossible possible”.
